Why KnitFix?
The volume of clothing that Americans throw away each year has grown in the last 20 years from 7 million to 14 million tons. Thanks to fast fashion and unsustainable clothing purchasing practices, this number is still increasing every year, a trend that is incredibly harmful to the environment. Clothes are being thrown away at a very high rate, especially when they're damaged, no longer fit, or go out of style. Also, tailors are expensive, and most people don't know how to sew. An easy to use solution was necessary to help people alter their clothes at home instead of throwing them out.
What is the KnitFix?
To encourage people to alter their clothes at home, we created a simple and intuitive device that requires no prior sewing knowledge. The Knitfix is the easy-to-use, quickFix, at-home sew-lution to altering clothes. An elastic stitch with two crimped beads on either side is sewn into the fabric using the KnitFix. In five simple steps, the user can easily alter their clothing in the comfort of their own home.
User Experience
1. Insert the clothing item into the mouth of the KnitFix.
2. Push the button on the side of the KnitFix to easily create a Knit-Fix-double-stitch
3. Push down the large button on top halfway to dispense the beads.
4.Fully Push down on the large top button to crimp the beads and cut the thread.
5. Remove the clothing item from the KnitFix.
Now your clothes are KnitFixed!
