Since the invention of the sewing machine, many clothing alteration devices have been created. However, we seek to improve on these designs and create a more user-friendly sewing device with the KnitFix.
Sewing Machine
In 1840, Elias Howe was granted the first patent for the sewing machine, which used a bobbin and created a lockstitch. This design drastically improved the garment and textile industry. Its basic design is still in use today, and it is one of the greatest technological inventions of all time.
Handheld Sewing Machine
The handheld sewing machine is a variation of the standard sewing machine. It can be used for small-scale sewing and mending jobs and also uses the lockstitch. It is portable yet still complex, which inspired us to create the KnitFix.
Button Pin
The button pin is a modern day solution to altering the waistline of pants. The pin is inserted in the jeans near the original button, and it makes the pant waistline smaller when buttoned. Customer reviews express that it frequently falls off and can create an awkward appearance on the front of the jeans.
Waist Buckle Set
The waist buckle set is an external attachment that allows the user to decrease the size of their pant's waistline. A pin is inserted through the jeans, the hooks are attached, and the nuts are screwed on. Customers say it is complex to attach these to their pants, as you have to screw them into place. Also, they are very bulky and can alter the appearance of the pants.
Skinny Clip
The skinny clip holds the users pants up with a simple twist and hook design. The clip is placed on the jeans, twisted, and hooks on to the other part of the jeans to decrease the size of the waistline. According to customers, the skinny clip is very flimsy and falls off easily. It also looks bulky and can be uncomfortable.
